GMP Is Making a $133,000 Corporate Donation
20 November 2018
COLCHESTER, Vt. – Green Mountain Power kicked off Vermont’s heating season by giving $133,000 to Community Action Agencies in support of the WARMTH program. GMP is urging customers to donate, too, and together will help more families. Since 1986, WARMTH has provided emergency heating assistance to more than 90,000 Vermonters. All funds donated go to Vermonters who need emergency help paying for heat.
“We love this program because it gives direct help to Vermont families who need it. No one should be cold in the winter,” said Mary Powell, Green Mountain Power president and CEO. “We’re proud to partner with our customers this way. It is always so heartening to see how willing they are to help neighbors in need. Vermonters know how cold it can get, but they also know how well WARMTH has helped families get through tough times while staying comfortable and safe right at home.”
Along with emergency aid to help pay for heating, WARMTH provides counselling to families to help them avoid heating emergencies. Money donated to WARMTH is managed by Community Action Agencies who make sure it all gets to those who need it. Each household receives no more than $225 in assistance per year.
“Winter is already off to a strong start and the need is real,” said Jan Demers, CVOEO’s Executive Director. “This program means so much to the Vermonters we serve, and we are so grateful for the donations that GMP customers, and GMP, make every year. All this truly helps to keep Vermont families warm.”
Checks made out to the WARMTH program can be sent to GMP’s Colchester office:

Or, checks can go directly to one of the five community action agencies around the state. To find one, or learn more about the WARMTH Program, you can go to https://www.cvoeo.org.
Vermonters looking for heating help from WARMTH can call 2-1-1 or their local Community Action Agency to see if they qualify.
