Forecasters Increase Wind Speed Predictions for Saturday and GMP is Ready to Respond
10 November 2018
COLCHESTER, Vt. – Green Mountain Power is alerting customers that wind speed forecasts for Saturday afternoon and evening have increased to 30 to 50 MPH and outages are possible. GMP closely tracks the weather and is prepared to respond if gusts take down trees and lines, which may be more likely due to saturated ground following recent rain storms.
Forecasters expect the strong winds to linger in Vermont through Saturday night. GMP is reminding customers to be safe and stay away from all downed lines or trees. Customers can report and track outages in GMP’s online Outage Center which has an interactive map with real-time details about where an outage is, when it was reported and estimated restoration times here: https://outages.gmpsnapshot.greenmountainpower.com/ or by calling 1-888-835-4672.
GMP also has an online Safety Guide with tips to prepare for and stay safe during outages: https://gmpsnapshot.greenmountainpower.com/learn/safety-guide/.
