50 GMP Employees Including Line Workers and Mechanics Respond to Assist Central Maine Power Customers
COLCHESTER, Vt. – A team of Green Mountain Power (GMP) employees including line workers and mechanics left for Maine this morning, to assist Central Maine Power’s restoration effort after Tuesday’s powerful Nor’Easter knocked out power to more than 600,0000 customers across New England, more than 26,000 of them in Maine.
GMP and Central Maine Power are part of the North Atlantic Mutual Assistance Group, which connects utilities so they can help each other recover from storm damage.
“We’re glad to go and help, it is neighbors helping neighbors. Utilities from around our region have helped us when big storms have hit Vermont, and so responding to a request for help is the right thing to do,” said Mike Burke, Vice President of Field Operations at GMP.
The GMP team members left from district offices around Vermont and are working in the Portland area and could possibly be there through Friday.
