GMP Prepared to Respond Safely As Forecasters Predict High Winds And Heavy Wet Snow
26 November 2018
COLCHESTER, Vt. – Green Mountain Power is preparing for possible outages as a winter storm rolls toward Vermont packing a one-two punch of high winds and heavy wet snow. Forecasters have advisories for strong winds up to 55MPH along the western slopes of the Green Mountains starting this evening followed by wet snow on the eastern side of the Greens.
GMP’s field force is prepared to respond and will have additional resources to assist GMP’s internal crews if needed. Southern and central Vermont are expected to be at greatest risk for outages. “GMP wants customers to be alert to winter storm warnings and advisories by the National Weather Service,” said Mike Burke, GMP’s Chief of Field Operations. “Not only could this storm cause some outages, but forecasters tell us travel will likely also be treacherous. We urge safety on the roads, as accidents can also create outages to the customers we serve. We will have crews in place to respond if we have outages.”
GMP is also reminding customers to be safe and stay away from any downed lines or trees. Customers can also report and track outage repairs by using GMP’s online Outage Center:https://outages.gmpsnapshot.greenmountainpower.com.
