General Terms
A summary of the terms and conditions of the program.
Battery Use Requirements
You may not use the battery system for any controls other than providing backup power for the customer’s premises.
It is important to note that the credit you receive and the availability of back-up power may be impacted if you choose to re-charge the battery only from solar power. In some instances, customers may want to utilize a tax credit, known as the Investment Tax Credit or “ITC” to lower the cost of their battery system when paired with solar. This tax credit requires that the battery be charged only from solar energy and not from the electric grid. This would mean that in the event the battery is used for a peak that occurs after daylight hours, the battery will need to wait until there is enough solar power to recharge the battery, which may or may not occur the following day. This is ultimately your choice as the customer to determine whether or not to utilize this tax credit. GMP will not send charge commands to your battery in order to protect any decision to claim ITC on the battery, but be sure to discuss this with your battery system provider.
Peak Events
A “Peak Event” is defined as a period of time in which customers collectively use the most energy. GMP will make adjustments to your device, such as discharging a battery at a specific rate, during peak events.
Peak Events are anticipated to occur an average of five to eight times per month for an average of three to six hours at a time.
Customers will receive notification of Peak Events via smart phone apps or other electronic methods, at least four hours in advance.
Sharing Energy With Us
GMP will make adjustments when possible to avoid completely discharging a battery for the purpose of achieving grid benefits during or prior to a pending weather event that could create outages. While we cannot guarantee that your battery system will be charged to a minimum level at all times, we will work to minimize these impacts to make sure you have back-up power.
Maintaining Wi-Fi Connection
You must maintain an internet connection for the battery storage system at all times. In the event GMP loses connectivity with the battery system, GMP will notify you and you will have 30 days to restore the connection. If you do not resolve the issue in this time frame, GMP will remove your battery system from the program and you will be subject to the termination clause found in the program terms and conditions.
