Empowering Customers with Pioneering Technology
How often do you think about the electric panel at your home? Probably, not very often! A new kind of home electric panel is promising to help customers by speeding up – and making it much more simple – to transition to clean energy devices at home.
GMP is the first utility to empower customers with Span’s Smart Panels. In a new pilot program, the pioneering innovation replaces the traditional home electric panel, and will give customers an easy way to understand and control energy use from anywhere, while helping all GMP and its customers foster a more flexible, resilient, green grid. Plus, the Span Smart Panel can do much more than traditional home electric panel, including replacing the meter to also measure energy use.

GMP is contacting customers to enroll 100 in this small pilot program – selecting them to carefully create a representative customer sample. The pilot program is testing how the smart panel can benefit all GMP customers and the Vermont grid – including customers with batteries, solar panels, EVs and other technologies at home.
Customers in the pilot will receive the panel at no charge, and GMP is partnering with Vermont solar and storage companies to do the installations.
