Customers Urged to Stay Safe and Stay Alert to Forecast for Sunday
COLCHESTER, Vt. – Green Mountain Power (GMP) is reminding customers to pay attention to the forecast over the weekend as Tropical Storm Henri heads north along the Atlantic Coast. A possible shift further west may increase the potential for heavy rain and wind, especially in southern Vermont, on Sunday. GMP tracks multiple forecasts and works with meteorologists who analyze data specifically looking for potential impacts to utility infrastructure, to ensure crews are ready to respond for customers.
“Safety is our top priority – so customers should be aware of changing conditions, possible rising waters, and always stay far away from any downed lines or trees. Stay safe, and call us. Forecasters expect the track of the storm to come further into focus as it approaches the Northeast which will help determine any possible impacts in Vermont,” said Mike Burke, GMP’s Vice President of Field Operations.
GMP is also reminding customers that it is always useful to have some basics ready in case of any storm: a charged cell phone, bottled water, emergency phone numbers, and a plan of where to go if you were to need to leave your home.
